New Head of Litigation at BTTJ
18th June 2025
We are delighted to announce that Suraiya Isaac joined Brindley Twist Tafft & James on Monday as Head of Litigation in our Dispute Resolution & Insolvency team.
Suraiya qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and has specialised in civil and commercial litigation throughout her career. She has worked at law firms across the UK, including in London, Worcester, Leeds, and the West Midlands, gaining extensive experience in a wide range of disputes.
Her practice includes high-value, complex commercial litigation, such as director and shareholder disputes, unfair prejudice claims and breach of directors’ duties and warranty claims arising from business and asset sales. Suraiya has acted in insurance disputes, including having worked on five fire related claims with a range in value from £1m to £6m, professional negligence claims against solicitors, architects and accountants and various contractual disputes and banking claims. Suraiya also has experience of commercial lease disputes, wills and probate and boundary disputes.
She has represented a diverse client base, including a major UK bank, insurers, publicly listed companies, private limited companies, owner-managed businesses, and high-net-worth individuals spanning various industry sectors including manufacturing, retail and care homes. Over the course of her career, she has worked for leading law firms and benefited from training and collaboration with prominent solicitors, King’s Counsel, and experts such as forensic accountants and surveyors. These longstanding professional relationships enable Suraiya to assemble highly skilled teams tailored to each case, allowing her to handle matters across a broad range of legal areas with confidence and efficiency.
Suraiya is known for her practical, client-focused approach. She builds trusted relationships with her clients, working closely with them as part of their team to achieve the best possible outcomes. While she is fully equipped to litigate, Suraiya recognises that court proceedings are often a last resort. She is committed to resolving disputes efficiently and cost-effectively, including through negotiation and formal mediation wherever possible.
Welcome to the team Suraiya, from all at BTTJ!
