He deals with commercial and residential property matters including: sale and purchases, commercial leases, development work, refinancing, option agreements and business sales and acquisitions. Lease renewals, residential leasehold enfranchisement and corporate suport. Alex also works within our Corporate / Commercial team.

His clients include developers, companies, investors, banks as well as private individuals.  Alex spends 100% of his fee earning time dealing with property matters alongside his Managing Partner responsibilities.

He has an interest in leasehold enfranchisement cases and works with several surveyors and agents to negotiate and, if need be, prepare a case for the Property Chamber Tribunal.  He has a good working knowledge and advises regularly on claims under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Development Act 1993 (as amended) and the Leasehold Reform Act 1967.  When acting for investor clients purchasing a mixed use scheme this knowledge can be important in assessing the legal implications of residential leasehold flats in a commercial building.

Alex is also a trained Mediator, which adds to his skill set providing a pragmatic, calm and commercial overview to the issue in hand.

Tom is a member of The Law Society Clinical Negligence Panels.  He specialises in Cerebral Palsy and Brain Injury cases and other cases of maximum severity. Tom is also a Senior Litigator member of The Association Of Personal Injury Lawyers (APIL) &  a member of the AvMA (Action Against Medical Accidents) Specialist Clinical Negligence Panel for a further five years. AvMA was established in 1982 and today the specialist clinical negligence panel is a highly sought after quality mark for Medical Negligence specialists

Tom headed the Medical Negligence Department at BTTJ for many years and was instrumental in the Department’s renewal of its Legal Aid Franchise accreditation, the Auditor from the Legal Services Commission commenting that the Department’s procedures were the best she had seen. In October 2025 he stepped down from the position of Head of Department, remaining as a well-respected and integral part of the team.

The Legal 500 has also recognised Tom, stating he is “Highly experienced, has a great case load and is popular with clients“.

Since then, in a commercial legal world where individual solicitors are becoming increasingly specialised in narrow fields, John has maintained a broad range of commercial expertise;- he has experience in commercial property (60%) corporate/commercial (10%), and residential conveyancing (5%) and so can provide legal advice and assistance on a wide range of often overlapping commercial issues that other commercial solicitors cannot. John also oversees our Commercial Property Department.

In 2015, John  became a partner of the Firm and, in the same year, after 3 years of intense training and examinations, he was also appointed as a Notary Public and a member of The Notaries Society. John’s position as a Notary Public provides services to both businesses and individuals and makes up 25% of his working time.

Richard joined the Medical Negligence Department in 2010 following a career at The Law Society and Solicitors Regulation Authority. He became a partner at BTTJ in 2021. In October 2025, Richard took over the reins of Head of Department for the team.

Richard also oversees our Private Client department.

A keen rugby player and supporter, his first degree was in Sports Science; the Anatomy and Physiology elements of which gives him a head start in the world of Clinical Negligence.  He retrained during his time with the Law Society, achieving a commendation in the Graduate Diploma in Law and Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, and a distinction in a Master of Laws Degree in 2009.

Richard is a member of Action against Medical Accidents (AVMA), the recognised mark of expertise for specialist Clinical Negligence lawyers.

The Legal 500 has also recognised Richard, stating that he is ‘excellent‘, ‘clever‘, ‘hard working‘ and ‘canny‘.

He has experience of a very wide range of Clinical Negligence cases including Orthopaedic, Oncological, Urological, Infection, injury during surgery and the management of long term conditions such as diabetes and Crohn’s Disease.  He handles cases from inception to completion, including trial where necessary.  He enjoys broadening his medical knowledge with complex and unusual cases. Richard spends 90% of his working time dealing with medical negligence matters. The remaining 10% of his working time is spent as the Partner overseeing our Private Client department.

Richard also became an Affiliate Member of the Society of Estate Practitioners in 2012 and can advise upon, and create, Personal Injury Trusts to protect any settlement monies from being means tested by the state.

Natasha deals with a whole range of family matters whether they are straight forward or very complex. She spends 40% of her working time on family matters and 60% of her working time on matrimonial matters.

As a member of Resolution, Natasha works in accordance with their Code of Practice to deal with matters in a constructive manner. Natasha works with her clients to provide support and explore all options including not only the court process, but other methods of dispute resolution to best suit their individual needs.

Natasha is also a member of the Law Society‘s Family Law Panel and has been accredited since 2011. Accreditations within the panel show that the individual is a specialist in their area of law.
