Rachel Collett

Rachel qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in 2010.  She has been working in law since 2003 and originally practised conveyancing but in 2008 decided that she wanted to be a private client lawyer and has specialised in this area since then.

Rachel joined BTTJ in June 2025 and prior to that she worked at large commercial law firms in Leamington Spa and Stratford Upon Avon.

Rachel specialises with dealing with the administration of estates.  She has experience in dealing with a variety of estates and she can deal with problems such as missing wills and missing beneficiaries.  She can also assist with intestacies (where a person dies without having made a will).

Being a farmer’s daughter, she has a particular interest in agricultural estates and can deal with claims for Agricultural Property Relief and Business Relief.

She can advise beneficiaries on post death variations to the will and deeds of appointment from trusts contained in the Will.

She can also advise clients on their inheritance tax position and what they can do in order to minimise inheritance tax on their death e.g. gifting, setting up lifetime trusts etc.

Rachel is an affiliate member of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners and has been awarded a Distinction in the STEP Advanced Certificate in Will Preparation

Rachel spends 100% of her time working on private client matters. And is based between our Coventry office and Southam office.

Notable successes

• Rachel has dealt with many agricultural estates where she has had to claim Agricultural Property Relief and Business Relief.  These matters are becoming more complex as farmers are diversifying into non-agricultural business activities.

• Rachel has also successfully dealt with estates where the original Will has been lost and the clients only have a copy.

About Rachel

Outside of work I enjoy helping out on my family sheep farm.  I also like to keep fit by attending classes at my local gym.

I enjoy watching sport on TV, particularly Formula One, tennis and athletics.

I am the vice-chair of a local charity that supports projects in my village.

I think that my colleagues would describe me as being approachable and down to earth. 

I enjoy meeting new clients and getting to know them.  Some people can feel quite stressed when they know that they have an appointment with a lawyer, and I aim to put them at ease so that they feel a lot more positive by the end of the meeting.

I would love to go on a safari.  I enjoy anything to do with animals and it would be wonderful to see them in their natural habitat. I have hand fed a tiger and a jaguar at The Big Cat Sanctuary.
