Kate Booth

Kate qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and has specialised in Family Law throughout her career with experience in divorce and separation; financial remedy; cohabitation; pre-nuptial and post-nuptial and other relationship agreements and children matters.

She has worked at firms in Warwickshire and the West Midlands, joining BTTJ in 2021 as Head of our Family Department. 

Kate recognises that divorce and separation represents a challenging time: She works with clients to understand their individual circumstances and needs, and find solutions that work for them and their families. 

Kate is a member of Resolution, and as such aim to reduce conflict and help clients to address issues in a practical and constructive way. She spends 100% of her time on Family Law matters

Kate is listed as a Leading Lawyer by Wiselaw.

Notable successes

• Acted in complex financial remedy case where the court found in Kate's client’s favour that a significant sum provided by the other party’s family was a soft loan which did not need to be repaid. The court did not deduct this amount from the assets, meaning that her client received a significant lump sum to purchase a home.

• Acted for a Claimant in a Cohabitation dispute. Court upheld the declaration of trust in Kate's client’s favour. Her client was awarded an additional sum to account for his expenditure on the property and a costs order was made against the Defendant

• Many of Kate's matters are able to be resolved through negotiations, mediation, private FDRs and other forms of non-court dispute resolution.

About Kate

I enjoy baking and challenge myself annually to make birthday cakes for my children – previous creations have included unicorns, movie themes and many iterations of dragons!

I think colleagues would describe me as approachable, knowledgeable and thorough.

I am fascinated by history – if I hadn’t been a lawyer I would have studied history.  Pompeii is on my bucket-list.

My ideal weekend would be spent catching up with friends, drinking copious amounts of coffee and settling in for a family movie night.
